Pinterest...the Rabbit Hole!

I've gladly fallen into it. This could take up a lot of my time if I let it...

BUT...I've Learned sooooooo much from this site:
Scrapbooking and Art Journaling ideas, Cooking, Quilting & Sewing.

It's darn addictive, this site.

Don't you just wanna create something every single day????               I DO!

And...I LOVE PENS!!!  OMG - and there are more like me out there. That's exciting and very scary at the same time, BUT comforting, cause I have learned WAY more than I probably needed to know about PENS, PENS, PENS.

 It's such a disease--Pens & Pretty Paper.  Oh MY GOSH...did I mention that I LOVE PENS?????
...and Filofaxes & Agendas - with PENS...

Well,  Go CREATE Something or JUST DOODLE!

Happy Birthday to ME!

...and it's all about me...
well, maybe for a minute!  hahahaaha
My friend Sherry sent me a surprise package which arrived Friday. It is so much fun - there's a note pad, stamp, lace embellishments & orange buttons (my favorites), a tote, lipstick case, rock candy stick, journal, note cards & envelpes, and a whole host of other really fun stuff! Oh- it came in a "book" that hollowed out to stash things in where nobody knows its there...
LOVE the stamp, and of course, Kirby says "oh look - it's a D...
NO-it's a P. Funny guy, cause those are my initials!  Hahahahahaha He's so clever...
I will be stamping my Post-It Notes for sure!

Thank You Sherry for the Goody Box of Sunshine!
Love You So....
Dorothea

Birthday Breakfast :)

Maggie fixed me the best breakfast:
My Special "Fru-Fru Coffee" in my favorite smiley mug
Banana Pancakes (these are amazing & healthy - no flour!)
Toppings - Fresh Strawberries & Bananas...mmmmmm

Look at 'em will ya?

She made me the best card too...

it's a thing we've had since she was a wee one:

I Love You More Than...

Cows Love to Poopie...tee hee (that's the best one)

That's my girl...always makes me laugh...and cry with Joy.
I Love You Peep!
Friends came to visit, eat sweets and we all enjoyed the sun.

Thank you Lord for a great day!
Thank you friends & family!

We sure did a lot outside, didn't we????

We mowed, and mowed, and mowed.
Then weeded, and trimmed, weeded, and weeded!

Whew.
Then we all fell into bed, and didn't move til the alarm went off the next morning.

Good Night Moon...It was a GREAT DAY!

Thankfulness

Counting my blessings. We have so much.

Our fridge has been on the fritz for some time. At times, it has stopped working all together.

No coldness was coming out of that box. No sir-ee.

So, we worked for hours, taking the freezer apart, once again, getting out the heat gun (you know--the one I use for embossing? Well it has a new use - not just for embossing these days) and having at it.

THIS TIME, the ice maker, which has never been used, came out for good!

YAY! A bit more room in the freezer now.

Then I cleaned for another hour after putting the darn thing back together, my husband Kirby taking the unruly styrofoam lining that was crumpled up in the back of the inner freezer between the fins, completely out too.

For now, it's humming along, and not running so often. Good and cold again..

So nice to have a clean fridge, and not much in it, actully, I just HAD to take a picture.
Ahhhhhhhh. Clean and cold.

And there's room for food again.

Thank You Lord!
For all that we are...all that we have.
Amen!

Grattitude Journal

My friend keeps Grattitude Journals. She has done so for years - she is diligent.

What a wonderful thing to do, I thought. So I started one in a pretty green leather desk planner that my daughter got for Christmas. She handed it down to me.

It better serves as a small place to jot down why I'm thankful for each and every day.

It's never hard to be thankful, just to be diligent.

So far, I'm having to really think about doing this every day, at the end of the day. Or early, before anyone else is up, when I actually have a moment to myself, and while yesterday is still fresh in my mind.

There's a reason for everything

So today was a dumb day. My schedule was all messed up, the Monday routine broken.

I was feeling out of sorts- not thanking God for all that I am, and all that I have.

Waiting on a call, I turned on my computer, looking for a book, and, in spelling the name wrong, found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc4HGQHgeFE.

Wow, what a wake-up call. There should be no bad days in my life - EVER.

Everyday I need to thank God, smile a lot more. Be content, patient, kind.

Be Kind

"Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible." Dalai Lama

I ran across this quote tonight while looking for something in the scrapbooking sites.
It captured my attention, and I truly try to abide by this, although often falling short.

Short, sweet, and to-the-point. It's that simple!

Now go and try it yourself, and see how much more wonderful the world around you can be...

                              til tomorrow, good night :)

Shennanigans...is THAT how you spell it?

Just looking through a few pictures of my daughter that make me smile...

Yea, everybody needs to try the clothespin-on-the nose, right?

I mean, it's so attractive and all.

Then there's "lounging at walmart" - after scouting the perfect Halloween hat...

Finally, a real picture of a real girl - MY real girl!  Hah!

I KNEW she was in there somewhere.  Whew!
  ~ The End ~

The Finger...

So, May 3rd was uneventful til I got this burr up my backside after just finishing mowing, that I was going to walk the dog!

Thing is, I   N- E- V- E- R walk the dog...

...so why was I compelled to do that exactly??? AND... if I were to do that, I would let him run off all his energy first, then think about putting a leash on him and walking civil-like, right?

Well, he was so excited that he just pulled so hard, I got "Whip-Leash"! Broke left ring finger. It was awful. I KNEW it was broken, the minute it happend. Couldn't let go. Thankfully, I immediately took off my ring - finger swelled up somethin awful.  My very dear friend Donna came right over, took me to the ER.

Long story short, God had in mind that I needed to pay attention to my blood pressure -so it took that to get me to the hospital.

BP was through the roof, 288/155, and of course I was bawling cause I'd lost my job, no money, you know. How the heck was I gonna pay for this??????? Anyway, they wouldn't do surgery for another 2 weeks til it was more under control, because of anesthetic. So cast on hand, then surgery, that went well, finally.

Here we are, June 4th - next week the pins come out. Yay!

Progress to follow...

Evening Walk

A quick walk this evening revealed new growth - be it weeds, flowers, trees. Everything was so "greened up".

You never know what you will see, or whom. A neighbor passing by watched as I aimed my camera. I wanted to shout "say cheese", as he passed by, but refrained :)

Then, there's one favorite: my "Sleeping Giant". He is always there, through season changes, never wavering. Take a close look...

The Old Simco

My old friend - the Simco Saddle. My favorite ride, the most comfortable for trail. And with the endurance stirrups, well, you could ride a long while. But, with the horses finding a new home, there won't be much use for it, so time to sell it.

Doesn't do me much good sitting around.

It needs a good spring cleaning, like always. Just dust, even though its been covered up. I'll get out the Leather Mate, give it a once over. Then it will shine once again, be as beautiful, as it is comfortable.

Maybe so long, my old friend. I'll miss that smell, and that ride, when the time comes.

The Kitty Pounce

During a very brief ray of sunshine, the cats found time to pounce one another. Then the clouds came back and they didn't "feel like pouncing" any more.

Felt like a Monday all over again.

Cracks, Crevices & Daffodils

This morning, the greenery was coming out all over the place.
My favorite little fern is only about 3 inches, growing out of the rocks at the steps just off the driveway.
All winter long, through snow and ice, it was always there to greet us.

Those little things..

Today, we took a little drive. The opportunity to capture the little tree and the lovely shed presented itself...and I took it!

First Day of Spring Greenery

Walking around this morning, looking for new growth peeking out from winter.

Friday, March 19, 2010

It's the little things...

Look all around - it's the little things that capture my eye. The everyday things that nobody may pay attention to.

One of my favorite things to do is go on a "photo walk" and capture what the day is like, things we see everyday that change; greenery, animals, familiar surroundings, birds, seasons.

This winter seemed long and arduous. The winter that stayed. The snow that stayed.

There are a couple of things I'll be capturing soon that I've looked at all winter, but never stopped to take a picture of:  the perfect little blue spruce on the way to school, the cool little tool shed with old tools, barbed-wire fencing wound in a little circle, rakes, hoes, and one of those rusted stars, all hung on the outside.

I love that little shed.

These are some of the "little things" I enjoy looking at every day on my way to take my daughter to school.
